Mrs. Mary Ptacek-Title I Academic Interventionist/Title I Reading and Math
Welcome! This website will help you to get a chance to see what is happening in my classroom!
It is a great joy to work with the students, staff, and the community here at Riceville. I love what I do and am very passionate about helping students feel successful and make growth in their learning. I received my undergraduate as well as my Master's Degree from the University of Northern Iowa. I am qualified to teach K-6 Elementary Education, K-8 Reading, Behavior Disorders, and Mild to Moderate Learning Disorders.
My husband Dennis and I live on a farm between Lourdes and Elma, where he raises cattle, crop farms and serves on several boards. We have three sons. Our oldest two are married and our youngest is attending college. I taught Special Education one year in Mason City prior to beginning my career in Riceville. During my time here, I have taught special education for 7 years, kindergarten for 17 years, third grade for 3 years, and K-6 Title I reading and math for 5 years. My newest role as a new Teacher Leadership Committee member is serving as K-12 interventionist. I believe this role along with my Title I position just may be the most rewarding of all positions that I have held. I look forward to being a part of the team of staff here at Riceville Community School District working hard to help the students be the best lifelong learners they can be.
